Since 1993, Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) has been a champion for the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife. Accredited through the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association, AIWC serves the needs of Alberta’s diverse wildlife in Calgary and southern Alberta. As a registered charity, AIWC relies on charitable donations and dedicated volunteers to support the more than 1,000 varied animals in need of care every year. AIWC welcomes Alberta’s injured, orphaned, and oiled wildlife, small and large, from hummingbirds to moose calves.

The Need

Each year the demand for our services grows. An increased demand equals the need for more funds to support our programs, and on August 1st, 2019 we will launch our first ever fitness challenge fundraiser.

Workout for Wildlife (WOW!) will run throughout the month of August, encouraging registered participants to reach their individually set fitness goals and collect pledges for AIWC. WOW! is your chance to connect – to Alberta’s wildlife, to our natural environment, and to your own fitness goals!

In 2018, AIWC provided care to over 1,000 orphaned and injured wildlife patients, with an industry-leading success rate of 49%. Each year we admit over 120 different species in need of care, and answer hundreds of telephone calls from the public on our wildlife hotline. It is through the support of the community that we are able to provide these essential services.

Registration

Early bird pricing of $30.00 per individual runs from May 15th to July 15th, 2019. Regular pricing of $35.00 per participant will start July 16th to August 15th, 2019. Registration closes on August 16th, 2019.
